A quick message from Dr. Luke Gordon, Spokane Valley’s leading PT, about dealing with concussion management & whiplash:
When it comes to something serious as a concussion, it’s important that you find the best care possible for your condition.
Concussion or whiplash symptoms can interfere with your daily life making it hard for you to function properly. All you want is to find some relief so you can get back to living life on your own terms.
Since your concussion…
➡️It’s been hard to keep up with your friends, family, and life
➡️Staying active isn’t as easy as it used to be before your concussion
➡️You’re having to take time off from your favorite sport until you feel good again
➡️It’s difficult to stay focused at work or school because of dizziness and “brain fog”
➡️You’re tired of dealing with low energy every day and are left wondering if there’s actually a solution out there for you or if you’re just going to learn how to deal with these symptoms for the rest of your life

Next Steps When Dealing With a Concussion
If you believe you have a concussion or have already been diagnosed, you may be wondering what you should do next. Luckily, we’re here to help you out with some tips.
Rest
When suffering from a concussion, it is essential that you rest, rest, rest. Without rest, you run the risk of making your condition worse – which you definitely don’t want. To ensure that you’re taking the necessary steps to finally start feeling better again, prioritize resting.
Eat & Stay Hydrated
Alongside resting, it’s important that your body also gets the nutrients and energy needed to aid you in recovery. This means prioritizing a well-balanced meal and staying hydrated while avoiding processed foods and refined sugars.
Following Necessary Protocols
Once diagnosed with a concussion, make sure that you listen to your healthcare provider and the instructions they give you when it comes to recovery. Following these protocols is the best way to ensure that you’re making the necessary progress needed to feel good again.
If you’ve done all of these things and still feel somewhat affected by your concussion, don’t worry — Gordon Physical Therapy can help.
What To Expect with Gordon PT
Here at Gordon Physical Therapy, you’ll work with a physical therapist that can help you figure out the root cause of your pain problems surrounding your concussion and/or whiplash and who can then guide you through the process of recovery.
During our initial consultation, we’ll talk about the symptoms that you feel are giving you trouble and what your goals are for physical therapy. Then, we come up with a specific treatment plan that will help you make progress toward those goals.
At Gordon PT, we follow the “3 Phases of Healing” when helping our clients experience lasting relief. In Phase 1, we focus on reducing the symptoms causing you trouble, primarily through “hands-on” treatment techniques. As your symptoms begin to improve, we then transition to Phase 2, where we start to incorporate specific exercises and movements, which will help address the symptoms.
Finally, in Phase 3, we shift our focus to making sure you’re able to achieve a full return to activity.
Your PT will be with you every step of the way to ensure that you’re making the necessary progress needed to finally feel like yourself again.
Don’t waste any more time living in pain or discomfort. It’s time for us to help you win back your life.

“Since my current job began, I began to have “popping sounds” and discomfort in my shoulders from the repetitive movements at my job. Chiropractic helped, but I needed more help with the muscles in my shoulders. Robert and Aram have been a huge help in helping me understand how to protect and strengthen my shoulders so that I can keep doing my job well. They also helped with creating custom insoles for my shoes to alleviate a long term foot/ankle problem. They really do a great job of getting to know you and caring for you like a close friend. Well done and thank you so very much.”
