Get to Know Dr. Luke Gordon – Doctor of Physical Therapy in Spokane Valley, WA
Luke was born and raised in Spokane Valley, where he attended West Valley High School. After graduating in 2001, he traveled to Washington State University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in Biology/Pre-Physical Therapy. Luke then returned home to Spokane and spent the next 3 years earning his doctorate degree in Physical Therapy at Eastern Washington University. He then joined his father, Robert, at Center for Physical & Sports Therapy, which was renamed Gordon Physical Therapy in 2014. His PT interests include helping clients with low back pain, sciatica, orthopedic injuries and surgeries, and balance-related issues. 3 Best Stretches to Improve Knee Flexion (Total Knee Replacement Surgery)
If you recently had total knee replacement (TKR) surgery, one of your first priorities should be achieving full range of motion (ROM) in your knee.
Essentially, this means that you want your knee to fully bend (up to about 135 degree) and fully straighten, as soon as possible.
In this video, I’ll show you my favorite three stretches to help you bend your knee. In the PT world, we call bending your knee “knee flexion”.
Whether you work on all three stretches or just pick your favorite one is up to you. All three of them work!
How To Cope With Pain While Sitting
Following Total Knee Replacement (TKR) surgery, about 5-10% of people with develop longstanding issues with knee pain, tightness, stiffness and swelling.
Some of these people will even develop “Stiff Knee Syndrome”, which includes the inability to full bend and straighten the knee, difficulty walking, weakness in the quad muscles, and swelling/heat surrounding the knee.
In this video, we’ll do into more detail about what “Stiff Knee Syndrome” is, and then I’ll share 3 things you can do to avoid developing it.
