Knee Pain Treatment at Home

In this video, I’m going to explain how to treat knee pain at home, with a focus on the most common cause of knee pain, which is patello-femoral joint pain (PFJ pain).
Successful treatment of knee pain can be broken down into 3 phases.
In phase 1, you want to focus on reducing your knee pain. This can include several treatment options, including the following:
– Massage techniques to the knee and IT Band
– Patellar mobilizations towards midline (patella = kneecap)
– Taping techniques
In phase 2, you can start to shift your focus to strengthening your knee/quadriceps and hip/core muscles. In this phase, you’ll also want to look at proper foot/arch support, as this can contribute to your knee pain.
In phase 3, as your knee pain and strength continue to improve, you can now shift your focus to functional strengthening on your knee and leg. This will allow you to return to more demanding activities, such as deep squats, as well as things like, hiking, running and other sports.
